Beginning Student – first 4 courses review1. If a student’s overall GPA is 3.0 or below after the completion of the first 4 courses they take in their degree program, the student will receive written notification from the office of the Registrar (by email or posted letter). Copies of this notification will also be sent to the National Director of the student and the Academic Dean.
2. A student who fails to achieve a GPA of 3.0 after the completion of first 4 courses will be limited to taking 2 courses with TCMI Institute. The Academic Dean’s office will determine the 2 courses to be taken. These 2 courses may be limited in location (only in their country). The expectation will be for the student to improve their GPA by receiving an acceptable level of 3.00 or above in each of these individual courses. The 2 courses may also be limited to re-taking a course already taken but achieved a final grade below 3.0. By limiting the location and the course taken, it is expected that the student achieve better results academically.
3. If the student achieves an acceptable grade in these 2 courses, an academic review and decision by TCMI Institute regarding the completion of the degree program will be made.
4. Failure to achieve an acceptable final grade in either of the courses will mean the student will be put on academic suspension (for a limited time) or dismissal from the program (permanent dismissal).
5. A student may reapply to the program after academic suspension by submitting a written appeal to the Academic Dean and Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee will then act on the appeal submitted.
6. A student who is readmitted after an academic suspension is on permanent status as a provisional student and must earn an acceptable GPA or face dismissal.
Existing Student – over the course of studies1. If a student’s overall GPA is 3.0 or below after the completion of 8 courses, the student will receive written notification from the office of the Registrar (by email or posted letter). Copies of this notification will also be sent to the National Director of the student and the Academic Dean.
2. A student may continue with their studies, but will be required to achieve an acceptable level of academic work in the next 4 courses. They may achieve this by re-taking courses (not more than 2 courses can be retaken without the permission of the Dean) that have already been taken but the student received a final grade below 3.0 or failed.
3. A student who does not achieve an acceptable GPA (3.0) after taking the next 4 courses is subject to academic suspension (for a limited time) or dismissal from the program (permanent dismissal).
4. If the student achieves an acceptable grade in these 4 courses, an academic review and decision by TCMI Institute regarding the completion of the degree program will be made.
